Innovative Initiatives Spotlighted at the 2023 Spring Meeting

From March 12th to March 16th, nearly three thousand chemical engineers from across the globe convened in Houston for the 2023 Spring Meeting and 19th Global Congress on Process Safety. AIChE is proud to offer this platform annually for chemical engineers to stay informed about the latest breakthroughs in process safety and network with industry peers.

The AIChE Foundation was excited to have the opportunity to showcase the innovative programs and initiatives that are being funded by our generous donors.

  • The AIChE Legacy Society is a community of individuals who have pledged to support AIChE through planned giving. Legacy Society members Syamal and Susmita Poddar hosted friends and fellow members for breakfast and discussed how legacy giving can contribute to AIChE’s continued advancement of the chemical engineering industry for many years to come.
  • Disabilities Outreach & Inclusion Community (DORIC) led an interactive workshop on how to work together to identify and integrate those who identify as having a disability into the STEM talent pipeline. Thanks to our Annual Fund donors, DORIC is able to promote awareness of disability issues in the field and make the industry a more accessible space. "We are energized to start collaborating following the DORIC Roundtable at the Spring Meeting. This forum convened industry ERGs who are ready to set up employees with a disability for success," said Amanda Scalza, DORIC Chair and Global Supply Chain Manager, SC Johnson.
  • Women in Chemical Engineering (WIC) held its annual morning session including a breakfast, keynote, and panel that are partially funded by Scott and Karen Love, whose generosity supports initiatives that promote gender diversity and empower women in the chemical engineering profession.

The AIChE Foundation is incredibly grateful for the immense support and investment from our community of donors and partners, who enable us to provide programming that exemplify innovation and inclusion at the Spring Meeting and beyond.
