AIChE Peru Leads the Technical Committee for Process Safety Standardization in Peru

On July 14th, AIChE Peru received a notification from the Instituto Nacional de la Calidad (INACAL) informing them about receiving approval for the creation of the Technical Committee for Process Safety Standardization in the Chemical and Hydrocarbon Industry. All of this came after AIChE Peru, in agreement with other organizations, decided to propose this initiative to INACAL months ago.

AIChE Peru, an AIChE local section, was designated by INACAL to lead this committee. The local section has invited more than 35 companies from the chemical and hydrocarbon sector to join, including government entities and universities that have accepted to participate actively.

INACAL, a public organization under the Ministry of Production of the Peruvian government, aims to promote high quality management practices in the country, improve the competitiveness of companies, and ensure the protection of citizens and the environment. The trust placed by INACAL in AIChE Peru is a demonstration of our commitment to chemical engineering and process safety.

About AIChE Peru

The local section of AIChE in Peru was formed in 2019 and has since worked diligently to promote the personal and professional growth of its members, as well as the importance of chemical engineering and process safety in the country through academic activities and addressing local issues.

We are delighted to have the participation of different organizations representing industry, government, and academia in this committee. The diversity of perspectives and experience will ensure a comprehensive approach in creating Peruvian technical recommendations in the field of process safety. Together, we will work to guarantee the safety of our operations and better protect both workers and the environment.

Technical Committee Installation Ceremony

On Friday, July 7th, 2023, we celebrated an exciting Technical Committee Installation Ceremony. This event was attended by prominent executives from INACAL, members of the board of AIChE Peru, representatives from organizations participating in the Technical Committee on Process Safety Standardization, and other companies interested in supporting this initiative. During the ceremony, INACAL and AIChE Peru reaffirmed their commitment to work together to make Peru a safer country in terms of industrial processes. This marks an important milestone for our organization and Peruvian industry.
