A cross-disciplinary panel of experts representing industry, medical research, and government will offer perspectives on the response of the chemical process industries (CPI) to the COVID-19 pandemic, during a special session at the American Institute of Chemical Engineers’ (AIChE) 2020 Virtual Spring Meeting and 16th Global Congress on Process Safety, taking place August 17–21. The panel, entitled “Frontlines of COVID-19: Lead, Learn and Cure,” will convene online, Monday, August 17, from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM Central Time, and will be accessible to conference registrants.

During the discussion, panelists will describe how effective leadership in the time of COVID-19 has shaped a new corporate culture, and review developments in the search for effective medical treatments and vaccines. The panel will also reflect on the role of the scientific community in managing COVID-19-related risk and transforming safety incident investigation techniques.
