Designing Difficult-to-Cyberattack Process Control Systems

Helen Durand is Assistant Professor of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science at Wayne State University, and also chair of the Cybersecurity session at the 2018 AIChE Annual Meeting. She gave a presentation titled, "Designing Difficult-to-Cyberattack Process Control Systems".

Cody Hirashima, Engineering Associate at AIChE, had a chance to chat with Professor Durand to learn more about the need for cybersecurity in process control systems.

Watch their discussion on control systems at chemical plants, why cybersecurity at these facilities is an issue, how to prevent breaches, and on current cybersecurity research and future challenges.
