Make the Most of the 2015 Annual Student Conference

 The 2015 AIChE Annual Student Conference start tomorrow!  This year's Student Conference will be taking place in scenic Salt Lake City, UT!  For more information on getting around Salt Lake City, please check out this useful website here, which was created by one of our Host Chapters, Brigham Young University.  Also, be sure to download the AIChE Annual Meeting App to help you navigate your conference experience.

Friday Night

Things will kick off Friday night with our Graduating Senior Mixer, which will be held at The Depot, which is a music venue located in an old train depot building. If you are in Salt Lake City on Friday Night and are 21+, please stop by the event to mingle with other graduating seniors before the conference begins.  

Saturday Events

Then, Saturday morning will be the Student Conference Keynote and Networking Brunch, featuring keynote speaker Allan McDonald. Allan will be giving a discussion titled "Ethics Lessons Learned from the Space Shuttle Challenger Disaster.”  There will also be a fun learning exercise focused around process safety, and someone will win a prize! Make sure you are at this event!

The rest of Saturday will consist of Student Conference Workshops, the exciting Chem-E-Jeopardy Competition, and the Chem-E-Car Competition Safety Inspection. After these activities, we will have our 2015 Student Conference Bash. This year's bash will feature a great menu including a mac and cheese bar and hamburger sliders.  We will have Utah DJ Rob Ferre providing entertainment for the evening, including laser/ LED lights and music videos.

Lastly, we are also excited to have the folks from TapSnap photo booth with us for the evening. Tap Snap's technology will allow everyone to upload their photos directly to social media using the touch screen. Remember to use the hashtag, #AIChEStudentConf!

Sunday Events

Sunday will be another packed schedule, with the Chem-E-Car Poster Competition and Freshman and Sophomore Recognition ceremonies kicking off at 8:30am. The Student Awards Ceremony will be taking place at 11:00am on Sunday. In the afternoon, the 2015 Chem-E-Car Competition® will kick off at 12:30pm.  Be sure to also take some time to stop by the 2015 Recruitment Fair on Sunday, which will have 71 tables (Companies, Graduate Schools and AIChE Entities) this year. Then at 5:30pm will be the Student Networking Mixer, before the AIChE Annual Meeting Opening Reception at 7:00pm Sunday evening.  

Monday Events

If you are sticking around for Monday of the Conference, we will have the 2015 Student Design Competition solution presentations and the 2015 Student Paper Competition at 8:30am. At 10:00am the Undergraduate Student Poster Competition will kick off, which will feature over 300 chemical engineering research posters in a variety of disciplines. There will also be the Student AIChE/CACHE Mobile Device App Competition, which will feature student-created apps which are relevant to chemical engineering.  Lastly, we will also have the Student Leadership Development Conference which will feature career consultant and author Alaina Levine, as well as representatives from Chevron, who will be talking about how their leadership skills have helped promote personal and professional growth.  

There are expected to be over 1,400 chemical engineering students from around the world at this conference. Hope to see everyone in Salt Lake City, and be sure to share your experiences and use the hashtag #AIChEStudentConf!
