Modeling and Simulation in Food Engineering

Are you interested in understanding how to overcome challenges and difficulties in the food industry by utilizing multiphysics modeling? In just about every industry, modeling and simulation are widely used tools for increasing engineering efficiency. Now, these modeling tools are entering the food industry. Take this webinar to learn more.

In this 60-minute webinar, you’ll learn how to obtain a uniform reproducible quality of a product. One major reason to turn to simulation is for the optimization of food processes. Mathematical modeling allows for the understanding and the predictions required to design a process that can give a uniform product quality even in the cases where the raw material varies in its properties from one batch to another. We can for example not control the amount of sun that oranges in Florida are subjected to but we can control a process that makes sure that juice tastes almost the same in different orange batches, for example using dialysis.

You will learn:

  • How the most common physical and chemical processes in the food industry are described with models
  • How numerical modeling software such as COMSOL can be used to solve problems in the food industry.
  • How colleagues in the food industry use modeling and simulations.
  • The basic modeling procedure in COMSOL Multiphysics.
