2023 AIChE Gala

The AIChE Annual Gala is the organization’s signature fundraising event. Funds raised from the gala support the Doing a World of Good campaign’s transformative priorities. 

The Gala honored Erin Kane, President and Chief Executive Officer of AdvanSix Inc. and Seifi Ghasemi, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Air Products, in recognition for their commitment to operational excellence and for their dedication to the advancement of diversity and equity across their workforces and within the engineering profession.

The 2023 Doing a World of Good Medal was presented to Samir Mitragotri, Hiller Professor of Bioengineering and Hansjorg Wyss Professor of Biologically Inspired Engineering, Harvard University, for his outstanding contributions in biologically inspired engineering and groundbreaking developments for the treatment of various ailments, including diabetes, cancer, skin diseases, multiple sclerosis, and infections, among others.

Erin Kane

President and Chief Executive Officer, AdvanSix Inc.

Erin Kane is president and Chief Executive Officer of AdvanSix Inc., a fully integrated manufacturer of nylon 6 resin, chemical intermediates and ammonium sulfate.

Seifi Ghasemi

Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer, Air Products

Seifi Ghasemi became chairman, president and chief executive officer of Air Products in July 2014. In this role, he is focused on setting the strategy and policies of the company, developing leadership, and meeting shareholder commitments.

Doing a World of Good Medalist:

Samir Mitragotri

Hiller Professor of Bioengineering and Hansjorg Wyss Professor of Biologically Inspired Engineering, Harvard University

Professor Mitragotri’s research is focused on drug delivery. He has developed innovative technologies for needle-free drug delivery via skin patches and oral pills which are easy-to-use and patient-friendly. In addition, Prof. Mitragotri has also developed new methods of targeted drug delivery for the treatment of cancer and vascular diseases.
