Rollie Mills

My name is Rollie G. Mills and I am a second year PhD candidate at the University of Kentucky under the guidance of Dr. DB. I obtained my Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering at the University of Kentucky, where I did undergraduate research with Dr. DB on PFAS removal from drinking water using responsive membranes. Dr. DB inspired me to pursue my passion for STEM during my undergraduate studies, and continues to inspire me daily during my graduate studies. My current research encapsulates environmental remediation of water and air sources from toxic pollutants using functionalized responsive membranes. Specifically, I am working on creating mask and filter materials for enhanced protection from coronavirus infection, as well as scalable membrane systems that can detoxify harmful chlorinated pollutants. Outside of research, I enjoy tennis, swimming, golf, and visiting one of Kentucky’s many distilleries.
