Professor Jeffrey McCutcheon

Professor Jeffrey McCutcheon is the Northeast Utilities Assistant Professor of Environmental Engineering Education at the University of Connecticut. He is a faculty member in the Department of Chemical, Materials and Biomolecular Engineering and is affiliated with the Center for Environmental Sciences and Engineering. Professor McCutcheon received his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Dayton in 2002 and he completed his Doctorate in Chemical Engineering from Yale in 2007.

At Yale, Professor McCutcheon developed the underlying theories for membrane transport that have led to his current work involving membrane design for forward and pressure retarded osmosis. On the subject of osmotically driven membrane processes, he has published 14 peer reviewed articles and given 10 invited lectures and seminars.

Professor McCutcheon was recently awarded the 3M Untenured Faculty Award, the EPA STAR Early Career award, and was recently elected to the North American Membrane Society Board of Directors.
