Dr. Ning Sun is a research scientist at Advanced Biofuels Process Demonstration Unit (ABPDU, http://abpdu.lbl.gov/), Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL). She has over 10 years’ experience in ionic liquid and biomass conversion. She leads the Catalysis and Analytical team in ABPDU to work with industrial partners, national labs and academia collaborators on projects involving biomass conversion, product recovery, protein purification, and related analytics. Ning’s research is devoted to biomass processing for production of renewable fuels and chemicals, which includes process design, optimization, and scale-up (bench to pre-pilot). Her research also involves extensive characterization and evaluation of the solid and liquid streams from the biomass conversion process and technoeconomic analysis to identify the major cost drivers and guide future directions.
