Nicole Moehring

Nicole Moehring is a fifth-year PhD candidate in the Interdisciplinary Materials Science program at Vanderbilt University and advised by Dr. Piran Kidambi. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin Stout in Applied Sciences with a concentration in Materials and Nanoscience. Nicole’s research focuses on the synthesis of 2D materials such as graphene and hexagonal boron nitride for energy generation and conversion applications in fuel cells, redox flow batteries and new isotope separation technologies. Specifically, she leverages CVD synthesis to enable transformative advances in proton exchange membranes, with the goal of developing membranes which outperform current state-of-the-art proton exchange membranes and enable widespread use of alternative, clean energy.
