University of Connecticut

Maqsud Chowdhury moved to the USA in 2012 after working for Chevron Corporation in Bangladesh for two years as a process engineer. He graduated from college with a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering with five successive Dean’s list awards. Currently he is working toward a PhD degree in Chemical Engineering from University of Connecticut at Storrs, CT, USA. His research focuses on developing a novel and green technology to improve polymeric membrane performance which are used for desalination and water treatment. The method employs electrospray deposition to form nano-films in a layer-by-layer additive manufacturing similar to 3-D printing. He is an expert in developing membrane based separation technologies, tuning the chemistry of materials and materials development, and process scale-up and troubleshooting. In addition to his research efforts, he also participated in several voluntary work. He played the role of event manager for organizing social events during his undergraduate study, had been a president of student association at UConn, and volunteered in a community based awareness program focusing on waste reduction, and efficient energy and water use. He also won multiple awards for his presentation skills, received numerous fellowships, scholarships, and travel stipends during the course of his PhD.
