M. M. Faruque Hasan

Dr. Faruque Hasan is an Associate Professor and the Kim Tompkins McDivitt ’88 and Phillip McDivitt ’87 Faculty Fellow in the Artie McFerrin Department of Chemical Engineering at Texas A&M University. He is also an affiliated faculty member of the Texas A&M Energy Institute. He received his B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology in 2005, a Ph.D. from the National University of Singapore in 2010, and postdoctoral training at Princeton University before joining Texas A&M University in 2014.

He leads a research group that is now being recognized for developing fundamental process systems engineering and optimization methods for the design, intensification and analysis of chemical processes with applications to carbon capture, natural gas utilization, energy, the environment and sustainability. His research has been externally funded by the NSF, DOE, American Chemical Society Petroleum Research Fund, and Oak Ridge Associated Universities. Dr. Hasan is a senior member and also serves as the Area Chair for the Computing & Systems Technology Division of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE).

He is the recipient of the National Science Foundation CAREER award (2020), the I&ECR 2019 Class of Influential Researchers Award, the World Technology Network Award in Environmental Category (2018), the Texas A&M Outstanding Achievement Award (2017), the ACS PRF Doctoral New Investigator Award (2017), the Best Paper Awards from Journal of Global Optimization (2017) and from Computers & Chemical Engineering Journal (2015), the Ralph E. Powe Junior Faculty Enhancement Award (2015), and the World Future Foundation PhD Award in Environmental and Sustainability Research (2010).
