Eric E. A. Janz

Eric Janz is a Faculty of Practice in the School of Engineering at the University of Dayton, and the Founder of the consulting firm Engineered Analysis and Results, LLC. He has over 25 years of experience in the field of mixing.

He graduated from the University of Dayton with Bachelor's and Master’s degrees in Chemical Engineering in 1996 and 1998, respectively. He is currently working on a Doctor of Engineering in Materials Engineering focusing on simulating the mechanical impact of transient heat transfer, with expected completion in 2023.

He worked at Chemineer, Inc. in various roles from 1996 through 2021. Each role built on the previous and reinforced the need to be a well-rounded engineer. He spent seven years in sales support as an Application Engineer, followed by leadership roles in Production Engineering, Quality, New Product Development, and R&D. In the engineering and development roles, chemical and mechanical engineering were strongly intertwined. He holds two patents for mixing equipment.

Eric’s work included extensive equipment design for general applications and customer-specific needs. He has excelled at developing experimental and computational methods to advance product and process development work. He led the technical development of the Chemineer Expert Design System, which integrated real-time mechanical and process response design, optimization, and quotation of mixing equipment.

In 2018 he moved into a full-time faculty position at the University of Dayton School of Engineering. Here he uses his 25+ years of engineering experience to lead the world’s newest engineering talent through their capstone design projects as they prepare for their journey to change the world. Students collaborate with industrial firms and community partners in these classes to address real-world engineering issues.

In addition to Eric’s teaching role, he keeps his engineering skills current by consulting with various organizations, including M-Star Simulations. He is a Senior Member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, is an Ohio registered Professional Engineer, and is active in local leadership with Scouts BSA. He is a current member of the Executive Board of the North American Mixing Forum.
