I am currently Principal and Owner of AguiVel Consultancy LLC since retiring from Heat Transfer Research, Inc. (HTRI) in early 2021. Before starting my own consulting, I spent 30 years at HTRI, serving in many positions, with the most recent being Senior Vice President, Contracts & Training. During my tenure at HTRI I had responsibilities in software development, technical support, research, marketing, training, business development, sales, and contracts. Prior to HTRI, I was an Associate Professor of Chemical Engineering at the University of Nevada, Reno (1986-1990) and Research Engineer at Bethlehem Steel Corporation (1982-1986).
I started my chemical engineering education at Universidad Tecnica Federico Santa Maria in Chile, completing my studies in 1978, followed by a M.S. and Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering at the University of Pittsburgh in 1980 and 1982, respectively.
I have been a member of AIChE since 1981 and a Fellow since 2017. I have served AIChE in many capacities in committees and divisions, with current involvement as webmaster of the Management Division, webmaster and Vice Chair of the Dallas Section, Secretary and webmaster of the ChE & the Law Forum, and member of the Fellows Council and the Membership Committee.
