Christoph Keysberg is a Scientist in the RNA Process Development Unit at BioNTech SE in Mainz, Germany. Christoph holds a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in molecular biotechnology from Bielefeld University, Germany. After his master studies he worked at the Princess Margaret Cancer Center in Toronto, Canada, before pursuing his PhD in molecular medicine at the Universities of Biberach and Ulm in Germany. His works revolved around bioprocess development for different therapeutic formats including viral vectors, monoclonal antibodies, extracellular vesicles, and mRNA. At BioNTech, Christoph is developing novel and innovative technologies to optimize the production and, particularly, purification of mRNAs for the best possible results. Moreover, he acts as technical expert for mRNA drug substance manufacturing within pre-clinical and clinical projects. He has experience in bioreactor fermentation, in vitro transcription and downstream processing via tangential flow filtration, affinity- and size exclusion chromatography.
