More than 600 will Attend the First-ever CCPS Conference in the Middle East

April 17, 2015

The American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE), and its Center for Chemical Process Safety (CCPS), will be hosting the largest process safety conference in the Middle East.  The Middle East Process Safety Conference (MEPSC) will be held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, from May 19 to 21, 2015.

MEPSC will be attended by more than 600 delegates and over 15 sponsors and exhibitors from across several process industries, including oil & gas, chemical and agrochemical industries. The two-day conference is centered on the theme, “Process Safety: Journey Towards Excellence.” It will bring together top-level industry leaders and engineers who recognize process safety as a strategic business value and an integral part of their operations. They will be discussing international new norms and regional best practices that lead to the highest level of process safety.

“This is an exciting time for CCPS as we host our first event in the Middle East,” said Shakeel Kadri, recently appointed Executive Director of CCPS. “We want this event to serve as a platform where those working in the process industries can gather and share best process safety practices.”

Abdul Munim Saif Al Kindy, CEO of ADCO, and Kadri will be the conference’s keynote speakers. Mr. Al Kindy will elaborate on the best practices to address the major challenges in creating and sustaining operational excellence. Mr. Kadri’s keynote presentation will be based on CCPS’s “Vision 2020”, where he will demonstrate what perfect process safety will look like when it is championed by industry and all its stakeholders.

CCPS experts and regional thought leaders will cover new perspectives on process safety metrics, mechanical integrity, hazard identification and risk analysis, process safety leadership and culture, pre-startup safety review, and incident management and business continuity, amongst others.

The event will offer more than 60 hours of technical presentations and two high-level keynote addresses and 7 expert panelists. Attendees will hear from 32 companies represented in the program and many more throughout the conference. Additionally, two pre-conference technical workshops will be held on May 19.

MEPSC is part of the CCPS family of conferences aligned to the flagship Global Congress on Process Safety. The event in Abu Dhabi complements CCPS conference series in North and South America, India, Australia, China and Europe.

CCPS member companies, AIChE, SPE and EAGE members are extended a preferential discount to attend.
